Illustration Friday - Theme : Garden

I thought of continuing the story of leap into this week theme. --After, having a great joyful time leaping happily with all creatures in the plain of tartarus, "abang" and "adik" continue their journey until they come across a mystical garden. This garden of fantasy are filled with magical creatures. They come in strange shapes and sizes never before seen. They gather around to greet "abang" and "adik"--. Made by using pen-ink and bruynzeel colour pencils. Some digital colours are added to produce some slight gradient and dotted lines. Enjoy, and heppi blogging ya.

Halo pak bono,

lately susah sekali mau masuk situ pak bono. downloadnya agak lambat. gara-gara tukar theme ka pak bono? yang, kreativiti harus ceriakan dunia yang semakin asyiknya bergolak ajer hari-hari..

Q. 9 Mac 2008 10:24 PTG

NICE! I love all the above ground activity shared with the below ground stuff. Try it just in black and white to punch it up. The color is a bit sweet and you can go much darker and eerier. Good work!
Best, Q.

rizal 9 Mac 2008 11:10 PTG

hello q,

thanks for the comments. Greatly appreciated. Yup, at first, i was thinking of doing it just plain black and white with no colours. I guess i was over doing with colours making it sweet. Love your suggestion making it more eerie and dark.

p/s : love your great detailed works with the dogs : )

anjou 9 Mac 2008 11:31 PTG

thanks so much for your comments rizal, cheered me up cos i didn't like the pic so much and was feeling uninspired. Your drawing is great, you have a lot of imagination.

rizal 9 Mac 2008 11:44 PTG

hi bee,
thanks ya. the different layer approach is meant to be a different in perspective / space which were normally used in chinese and other paintings hundreds of years ago. Just having fun using that old style of painting, instead of our usual contemporary design elements and principles. :)
