Well, this is my homage to "Happy Child-Like Feeling" inside each of us, waiting to burst out. After a while, we sometimes seem to forget how good and wonderful it is to experience that happy.happi.joy.joy feeling. A feeling that we seem to enjoy much during our childhood years. So, my illo is about how these creatures are swept by this great joy feeling since "abang" and "adik" are having a good time dancing. Hehe. Doing IF has brought out my inner child too. p/s: Untuk HKK kali ni, memang ada beberapa produk kraf anyaman rotan baru yang dikeluarkan. Frem gambar kraf rotan, mangkuk rotan gabungan bahan dan juga lampu gantung anyaman rotan (rattan lantern) antaranya. Sengaja tidak diletak mentol bagi mudah kerja-kerja pameran. Nanti terlalu banyak pulak wayar berselirat jadi serabut pulak. Sila datang ke Seri Cipta yer kalau nak lihat lebih lanjut. :)

Starting today, HKK-Hari Kraf Kebangsaan (National Craft Day) is officially on. Will be from 27 April - 7 Mac 2008 at Kompleks Kraf Jalan Conlay. I ve been busy lately setting up the whole floor for IKN due to HKK. The truth is, i am getting bored of being the person in charge of every IKN exhibition. Come on, there are almost other designers too. Anyway, i am going to hold my grunges for now. Well IKN is located at Seri Cipta if you visit Kompleks Kraf. So, do come and see some of the things that the students made. And see HKK too. There are hundreds and hundreds of crafts "pengusaha" from all over Malaysia - from Perlis to Sabah bahh.. - ranging from textiles to 3d products. It is a craft fair after all. I am sure there must be a thing or two that will capture your interest. Ohh, I ll be in Kompleks Kraf the whole this week and on 1.04.2008 too. I am going to edit this post, hopefully later by this evening showing more pictures of the whole Kompleks Kraf scene yaa.. Orait, that is it for now. Gotto rush, later.. and heppi blogging ya.. :)

I did my browsing through out the whole area around 12.30am. They are hundreds of crafts varieties to choose from. Met and chatted with few crafts "pengusaha," and stopped for a while at the demonstration area to see the traditional way of making a kite. I still think last year demonstration area was excellent and way more colourful than this year. Too bad they have changed its location. If you are going to be there, just try to allocate at least 2 hours so that you can really look around. One hour is just enough for you to spend the area there more like the amazing race style. keke. I love some crafty stuffs from Sarawak and Sabah, and i guess, i will be coming back later around this week to get some nice stuffs there. They are few good rattan stuffs too - from DP design, Cane Furniture (which is in the buyer meets area) and Kak Hasnah (loved the handbags). I think last year layout was better than this year, and that doesnt mean that this year HKK is a bit dull. Well, at its 6th birtday, HKK should be able to handle itself very well.

Well, if you are into arts, there is also this artist colony's area. Lots of nice illos are sold there by talented local artists. It is more like what you get at Central Market. I happen to get a chance to meet Nora Tamby (doing her batik illos. Love em) and Abang Zaki (illustrators.) I have known Nora since my time in RnD and Abang Zaki just this afternoon :) . Abang Zaki works are truly beautiful. Excellent i must say. Love the work that he is working on. Both of them are such nice chaps you know. You can commissioned them to do your art works too. If not, why dont you find something that would suit your budget. There are small artworks if you like. Postcards would do nice to your home decor. I think i ll do a proper interview next time since i was in a hurry when i met them. Ohh, do visit their galeri at Galeri melor if you happen to go HKK in Artist Colony area. Both of them are sharing the same wakaf (Galeri melor)- Kompleks Kraf Seksyen 63, Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur.

Ohhh my, I just received a sms notifying me about HKK launching by PM tomorrow. Never thought Kraftangan Malaysia would promote via sms this year. I guess changing the date has taken its toll and I am sure PR is now having a Kaput time. hehe. Sory yaa Wanie, jgn marah if you happen to read this.

Well, i think this is the first post ever that i have used multiple pictures. Anyway, once again, do drop by to HKK. Do show your support of our Malaysia Crafts yaa by buying crafty items there. It is only once in a year that you can have them all in one place. You never know what is in store until you visit. Dont worry about food. There are multiple food stalls there. Ohh..You still have to pay though. Ohh, try to avoid tomorrow morning (28.03.2008) around 10.30 since PM is coming too but if you like all the glitters and hype associated launching ceremonies, then, be there at that time. :P I on the other hand, have been made compulsory to be there. Hehe. I am sure the traffic is going to worsen. Well even today by evening, traffic is quite bad.

Well, in my spare time, i ve just made these mini bookmarks. Making them seems a great way for me to keep on doing my art work. Doesnt consume so much time. Give me more room too to try different styles or medium. As mentioned earlier, i am not keen on using watercolours, more of a pen-ink and colour pencil type of person. But hey, i ve found that using w.colours does take less time. I like to use them as my backgrounds. So, here they are, my mini bookmarks. Hepi blogging and have a great day ya.

Well, my pet peeve has something to do with my cat aka Blakie. Have you ever noticed how male cats would come home roaring (meow like roar) at the top of their lungs. I just cant stand it. It is this piercing-roaring-meowing such a disturbance of peace. I would go like.. "ughhh he s home." My blakie would not stop his meow roaring until he finds me. The longer i get to him, the louder he gets. You can even hear his voice from 2-3 houses away. Typical. Well, this "piercing-roaring-meowing" sound would eventually settle to a sweet purrr..purr purrrrfect tone once i pet him. I guess he just need his daily dose of "love and pamper." Anyway, i just did a quick sketch to this week theme.-pen-ink and pencil-. Hepi blogging and have a great day ahead. : )

Checking my site, as usual, i have noticed lately a google adsence advert mentioning "Seni/Kraf Tangan Malaysia. Iklanlah Di Mudah - Sungguh Mudah, Cepat, Percuma. Tak Payah Register!. " Of course i am curious since i realize that there aren't many Malaysia sites stuffing their contents on crafts. Ohh, then i realize that it is a place for you to advertise your stuff on Mudah site. This curiosity has brought me over to their site to check it out what it is all about. Well, upon landing on their site, this is what you will see.

I guess, i like its simple-no-fuss-straight-forward feature. The best part is, if you like to find something on your state, you can just click the state that you live in. That is a good feature knowing that it will be much easier to find and pick your desired stuffs, saving you cost on logistics. I try clicking on "Home and Garden" since there are no items sold under crafts. "Home and Garden" seems the best choice. Upon clicking, i am brought to this :

Not bad. A 3-page of 50 items per page is lay out to you. I find there are lots of nice stuffs ranging from rm20 to thousands of ringgit. Whatever you choose based on your budget, you can do wonder to your home with these stuffs sold there. I think craft items would go well to under "Home and Garden" section. Ohh, there are 2nd hand items too. Great for those people looking to fit their house but on a tight budget. And just because these are 2nd hand items, they don't mean to be in bad shape okay.

I had a gud nite sleep yesterday. I was really sleeping. I was so tired that i even slept on the room floor. I had a coffee mug and my sketch book with me, thinking of doing "Pet Peeve" theme. I wasn't on my bed since there were coins of rm50 on my bed which were longgok in RM10 in few spots. Yerr la, i did my counting of my saved sens. RM50! not bad. : ) During the night, i did open my tired eyes and saw my brother hooked on my lappy-chatting i guessed. Heard him nagging me "tidur atas katil la.." Still too lazy to get up on my bed. So, this morning i woke up at 5 am feeling fresh. haha. Then at 6.30 went out to my usual makciks nasi lemak and bought one. "Akak, nak tukar tak duit syiling..saya ada banyak ni" "Berapa?" That akak asked me. "Sepuluh ok?" "Oklah.." she replied. huhu. one down and 4 more to go. On my way filling up gas, stop at one makcik, and buy a nasi lemak (for my brother) and changed another rm10 silings for a rm10 note. huhu. Then str8 to Tasik Titiwangsa for my jogging therapy. I like to jog. It helps me clear my mind - and it feels great. I should do more often. Feel like i am getting heavier. haha memang yer pun. After done my 40minits of 6km, stopped at one makcik, bought air kotak milo and papaya. "Akak..nak tukar siling sepuluh ringgit tak?" huhu. Changed another rm10. Huhu. Then off my way to home. Stopped by at my usual mini market buying friskies for Blackie (my meowwrrr kucing jantan). Yayyy.. got a free gift-rantai loceng. Then, went str8 back home. Wondered where was Blackie. Thought of putting this loceng rantai on him. Hmmm..ate my nasi lemak, mopped my room floor with "Fabuluso dengan wangian apple segar.." turned my lappy..check my site.. found manggo's comment on shoutbox.. then pergi mandi.. So, those are things that i usually do on saturday morning - I wonder what are my friends normally do on saturday. I like to know. Come on! tell me yaa..no need in detail la.. just share with me a fraction of your saturday daily routine.. Dont be shy.. =)

My head feels heavy. Lots of stuff are in my mind lately. Yup. It feels like there are these invisible rivers of stuffs flowing towards me at the same exact time. I even find it hard to do my IF. My colours seem kaput. Finally, i end up just doing patterns for this week theme :a self expression of me trying to lighten up myself from sinking straight to the bottom. A ha!ha!ha! I have to admit, this is my least enjoyable work. This is so not me. : ) Hmm.. pen-ink and strokes of watercolours. Heppi blogging ya and enjoy!!

Rasanya, lama betul tak "post" gambar produk anyaman rotan. Asyik-asyik dok letak gambar "illustration" ajer. Hihi, agak sibuk sekarang ni dengan beberapa projek anyaman rotan, jadi nak letak gambar-gambar baru tak sempat. Lain lah "illo", satu hari boleh siap, anyaman rotan ni, kalo sehari boleh la siap, tapi yang mudah la. So, far, ada beberapa projek lampu gantung aka "lanterns" pun siap buat. Tapi tu kira simpan untuk "posting" HKK nanti - Hari Kraf Kebangsaan. HKK tunda ke 27 Mac, yang sepatutnya berlangsung 28 Februari. Ni disebabkan pilihanraya. 27 Mac ni pun belum pasti, harap-harap tak anjak lagi. Anjak lagi, habis payah nak ubah balik semua jadual pembelajaran.

So, here it goes again, Rattan Crafts. It has been a while since my last post of rattan craft werks. Currently, we (the whole staffs) are busy preparing for HKK @ National Craft Day, expected to be 27 Mac 08. Just click the picture to get a clearer view. These works are weekly assignment, which at the end will be assessed as a minor project. There are two more small projects needed to be done. Looking ahead, i am quite worried too, as there are one short course of rattan furniture, few small projects and a full set of furniture (one full set per student) which are all waiting to greet these students : ). All these before the end of May 2008. Overall, i m just glad, these works are much better than the first attempt. Anyway, enjoy the works, have a great weekend and heppi blogging ya. : )

I thought of continuing the story of leap into this week theme. --After, having a great joyful time leaping happily with all creatures in the plain of tartarus, "abang" and "adik" continue their journey until they come across a mystical garden. This garden of fantasy are filled with magical creatures. They come in strange shapes and sizes never before seen. They gather around to greet "abang" and "adik"--. Made by using pen-ink and bruynzeel colour pencils. Some digital colours are added to produce some slight gradient and dotted lines. Enjoy, and heppi blogging ya.

As mentioned earlier, i had said that these illos would eventually land on somebody else sites : ). The reason is, i would like to say "thank you" to sites that have inspired me in many ways ; be these for their creative illustrations, amazing site contents, life experiences or maybe, just simply by the way they have reacted to restnrileks. : )

Giddiyap.. yee haaa. Hear it is again. Illustration Friday - Theme : Leap. First thing that struck my mind when i received the theme was Joy - Happi heppi joy joy. Hence, i call mine "Leap of Joy."
